One-click Undo
Every trim can be reversed straight away from the bar above your reply.
Every reply quietly carries the whole thread underneath it. ThreadTrim cuts the old quoted emails before you hit Send, so people get what you wrote and nothing else.

The problem
Gmail quotes the entire conversation under each reply and hides it behind three dots (•••). You can't see it, but it's still sent. On a long thread, a one-line answer carries dozens of emails everyone already has.
How it works
Install once. After that it happens every time you click Reply.
As usual, in Gmail or Outlook on the web.
Quoted emails are removed from the draft instantly, with a small bar showing what went.
Need it after all? One click on Undo puts everything back.
Features
Everything you'd expect, nothing you have to learn.
Every trim can be reversed straight away from the bar above your reply.
Keep nothing, or keep just the email you're replying to.
Runs in your browser. Emails are never stored or sent anywhere.
Forwarding needs the original, so ThreadTrim never touches it.
Gmail and Workspace built in. Outlook on the web in one click.
Install it, click Reply. No account, nothing to configure.
The extension, its menus and messages come in seven languages.
Why not do it by hand?
You can remove quoted text in Gmail manually. It just takes this, on every reply.
A client thread of mine hit 79 emails. Every one-line reply, mine and theirs, went out with the whole conversation underneath it again. Nobody needed it, and nobody could see it. So I built ThreadTrim.

Gmail automatically quotes the earlier messages of a conversation under every reply and hides them behind three dots (•••). They're hidden on your screen but still sent, so each reply carries the whole thread again.
Yes. The three dots only hide the history from you. Unless you delete it, it's sent with your reply. ThreadTrim removes it from the email you send, not just from your screen.
Yes. The free plan trims 100 replies a month. Unlimited plans are $1.99 a week, $19.99 a year or $49.99 once.
Yes. Click Undo on the bar above your reply and the full history comes back. You can also set ThreadTrim to keep only the email you're replying to.
No. It works only inside the reply box, on your device, at the moment you reply. Email content is never stored, logged or sent anywhere. Read the privacy policy.
It works with personal Gmail and Google Workspace accounts, and with Outlook on the web (Outlook.com and Microsoft 365) once you turn it on in the ThreadTrim popup.
No. Forwards need the original message, so ThreadTrim never touches them.
Not yet. ThreadTrim runs in Chrome and other Chromium browsers on your computer. Replies you send there stay short, which keeps the whole thread shorter.
